As a Board Certified orthopaedist, Dr. James S. Gebhard specializes in adult and pediatric spine surgery. He is devoted to the diagnosis, treatment,
rehabilitation and prevention of injuries and diseases of the spine. In a single day, he may treat patients with a variety of conditions such as scoliosis, stenosis, osteoporosis, spinal tumors, ruptured disks, pulled muscles, and neck or back pain.

Practice Philosophy

I strive to understand each patient and how their spinal problem impacts their life. I stay current in my field by participating in symposia and conferences sponsored by the two premiere spinal organizations of which I am an active member — The Scoliosis Research Society and The North American Spine Society. I make treatment recommendations based on my knowledge and understanding of spinal pathology and each patient’s individual symptoms, diagnosis and needs.

Clinics and Appointment Scheduling:
As a specialist in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Gebhard spends significant time in the OR and making rounds on his patients in the hospital. Because of this he is only available in clinic approximately two days per week. As a surgeon on active staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Medical Center, he is also required to take trauma call. We ask your patience and understanding if your appointment has to be rescheduled or is delayed due to an emergency.

I really liked Dr. Gebhard’s staff, especially Darilynn.
