As a board certified orthopaedist, Dr. Mary Beth Deering specializes in orthopaedic surgery with special training in pediatric and adolescent orthopaedics and sports medicine. Her Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics at Nemours Children’s Clinic has allowed Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates to expand our services to include Pediatric and Adolescent orthopaedic sports medicine.

General Orthopaedic Surgery &

Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine

As a part of the RMOA team, Dr. Deering helps to provide expertise in the area of Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedics. Her team treats a wide variety of ages and problems. Sports-related injuries, fractures, and scoliosis are common in the clinic. Club feet, hip dysplasia, and cerebral palsy are a few of the more challenging problems of infancy and early childhood.
Because the Western Slope has so many opportunities to enjoy the outdoor activities year round, sports medicine and trauma are a big focus for Dr. Deering’s Pediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedic team.
The RMOA Pediatric Ortho team runs a Special Needs clinic for children with Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, as well as many other unique problems. The clinic is a chance for each patient to meet with the orthopedist, physical and occupational therapist, and the orthotist all in one place.

Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery

In addition to her passion for working with kids, Dr. Deering has also had a special interest in adult and pediatric trauma. She served as the first director for the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as a member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Trauma Committee for seven years. Currently, she is an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and enjoys teaching other physicians, community nurses, and paramedics
about orthopaedic trauma. Dr. Deering maintains a surgical practice for both adult and orthopaedic trauma.
