Dr. Ackerson’s surgical practice focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of all conditions of the hand and forearm, including arthritis, traumatic injuries, sports and overuse-related conditions. As a fellowship trained orthopaedic hand surgeon, he specializes in treating disorders of a complex array of structures including the skin, nerves, vessels, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, and bones.
The foundation of my approach to medicine involves a collaborative effort between myself and my patients, helping each patient assume an active role in their
treatment. Rather than a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all mentality, my philosophy emphasizes the importance of treating the individual. This entails careful
consideration of the details that makes each patient – and their medical problems – unique. Once the problem is diagnosed, we then develop a treatment
plan. Through a coordinated effort involving the doctor, patient, and hand therapist, we implement the patient-specific treatment plan and strive to achieve the best outcomes possible.
Originally born on Long Island, New York, Dr. Ackerson has since lived in various locations across the United States.
