Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates, Ascent Productions and Livetrainrace.com join together to create an avenue for Road Racers of the Western Slope to compete in the Grand Junction Criterium Series.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (March 2, 2010) – The newly established Grand Junction Criterium Series is set to begin March 31 with five additional races to follow on April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 5. This USA Cycling sanctioned road race begins with Group B at 5:30 p.m. each race day at the Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates building, 25 ½ Road and Fracture Lane, Grand Junction, Colo.
Criterium participants may sign up at www.livetrainrace.com or just before the race at the Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Associates building. However, fields are limited to 100 riders, so registering early is suggested. There are two group races. Group B – Category 4 and 5, plus Master’s Racers – starts each race. Group A – Category 1-3 riders – follows.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Road Racers from across the Grand Valley, the Western Slope and even those in Utah to participate in a high-level race,” RMOA Sports Medicine Physician and Road Racer Dr. Richard Price said. “We can’t wait to get this event going and hopefully watch it grow into something even bigger.”
Chris Reed of Ascent Productions, a producer of many national and regional athletic events, said, “We saw there wasn’t a formalized road racing program in western Colorado, so we decided to bring it to the Grand Valley. We’re also excited to have RMOA as one of the organizers, including providing on-site medical care.”
Mike Driver of Livetrainrace.com said, “We are encouraging a healthy active lifestyle through events like this. If you are an athlete, or would like to volunteer, please visit our team at www.livetrainrace.com.”
